![]() Addressing a crowded press conference in Jammu today the APMCC Chairman Vinod Pandit said that the government was turning a deaf ear to their repeated pleas while land mafia along with some unscrupulous elements of various temple managements have indulged in massive encroachments and illegal selling of temple property in Kashmir Valley.Vinod said that the temple property of Kashmiri temples was worth more than 500 crores and demanded a CBI probe into the whole scandal covering all the temples of the Valley from Vitasta to Aman Sethu in Uri. Challenging the government position on the temple controversy Vinod Challenged the Chief Minister to accompany him to various temples where CM can see with his own eyes how wanton destruction, encroachment and selling of religious property of Kashmiri Hindus has been affected putting the basic identity of Kashmiri Hindus in danger.He said that if the Omar led government still continues to sit silent over the very sensitive issue of Hindus he would launch a hunger strike and his activists would initiate massive demonstrations in various parts of the state and country to make their voice heard by the people world over. Vinod Pandit demanded the immediate arrest of the land mafia and also those black sheep who have let the temple properties encroached for their vested interests adding Kashmiri Hindu’s won’t let the land mafia snatch away their religious places and its property which is worth more than Rs 500 crores in Valley. He informed that APMCC would also dispatch letters to Prime Minister of India, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Chief Minister of J&K and Dy Chief Minister of J&K in this regard demanding a full-fledged CBI probe into the whole scandal.Pritam Sharma, General Secretary Kranti Dal while supporting APMCC for a CBI probe into the temple encroachments saying that it was the concern of all Hindus and KPs were not alone in this fight. He also appreciated APMCC’s gesture of extending full support to Kranti Dal in their efforts to bring uniformity in temple management in Jammu Giving details of the illegal encroachments and selling of the temple property HL Chatta, General Secretary ASKPC said that in Vitasta temple land has been encroached while in Umoo temple land two house have been constructed by the sons of late Noor Haji.He said that at Gita Bhawan in Verinag a public school under the name of Green Hill Public School is being run illegally while another temple land in Dumtbal has been sold. Citing another example he said one local person has constructed a house while others have constructed septic and soakage tanks on the land of Ganesh temple in Handwara. He said that similarly a multistory shopping complex has been constructed at the land of Baba Dharam Dass Mandir at Sathu Barbar Shah in Srinagar where Wet land has been converted into dry land by the land mafia. Sanjay Raina, of APMCC cited yet another example of Gauri Shankar temple where land has been encroached by the locals by constructing a building while government too has encroached the land without compensation by constructing a road on temple land. At Gosain Bagh, Kathi Darwaza, Srinagar land mafia has leased 36 Kanals of the temple land to some locals, he said.Giving more examples of wanton encroachments of temple land the leaders said that 30 to 40 Kanals of land of Arya Samaj Mandir and school at Motiyar Rainawari has been sold which costs over Rs 1.5 crores.40 kanals land of Cremation ground Handwara and Sagam where a check Post and a hospital has been constructed at Cremation ground by the Government, 10 kanals of land at Fateh Pora Anatnag, Karkote Nag, Sali and Sarai of Qazigund temple Anantnag has also been encroached by locals, the leaders lamented.They said that the height of the government apathy was that even the land of the Archeological Survey of India protected historical temple Naraan Naag in Tehsil Kangan, district Ganderbal has also been encroached by locals by constructing houses for tourists and business purposes while both the Government as well as ASI is sleeping over the issue. Sounding very serious in initiating a massive agitation over the issue to force the government to order a CBI probe the leaders said that Kashmiri Pandits won’t rest till their demand of protecting their religious places and property was not met. Other prominent leaders of various organizations who addressed the press conference include, Dr Subash Gupta, President Dharmarth Trust Sudhar Samiti, its General Secretary Krishan Lal Kapoor, Vice President Karnail Singh, Desh Rattan Pandita, President AMCCC, V Sathu, Patron Secular Front and its spokesman SL Koul, Ravinder Pandita organizing secretary APMCC, Chand Narayan Kandru, senior leader of APMCC, Chand Ji Khar, President Vitatsta Samaj and executive member of APMCC, and Samir Raina spokesman of APMCC. |
